The Iran Cultural Centre Colombo in Sri Lanka will host the Iran Film Festival this week.

The Iran Cultural Centre Colombo in Sri Lanka has scheduled to hold the Iran Film Festival, with a number of cinematic creations from the world renowned Iranian Cinema.

Award-winning Iranian flicks will be screened on a daily basis at the National Film Corporation during the five-day event.

The 2014 Iranian war drama ‘Track 143’ directed by Narges Abyar will be shown on February 11.

‘Track 143’ is an adaptation of Abyar’s novel titled ‘The Third Eye’, highlighting the considerable role of women in the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran from 1980-1988.

Reza Mirkarimi’s drama movie ‘A Cube of Sugar’ will also be screened on February 11.

The movie narrates the story of a young girl from a traditional Iranian family who is set to marry the son of a family friend who lives abroad.

As her entire family arrives to take part in the wedding ceremony, an unexpected event turns the joy of the moment into sadness and sorrow.

Another film to be screened at the event includes ‘The Sweet Taste of Imagination’ directed by Kamal Tabrizi.

The drama film recounts the story of a man so fascinated with protecting the environment that he has dedicated his entire life to it. All he can think of is clean energies and educating others on how to keep the planet safe. This is when he meets a young lady who equally fascinates him.

‘Where Are My Shoes?’ and ‘The Painting Pool’ are other films to be screened at the Colombo festival.

The Iran Film Festival in Sri Lanka commenced on February 10 and will continue until February 14.
